Thousands to join human chain for Sendong victims

CLARK FREEPORT – Thousands are expected to participate in the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) ‘human chain’ fund-raising project for the benefit of the victims of Typhoon Sendong.
The event on December 28, dubbed as “Clark CARES: Human Chain for Typhoon Sendong Victims,” at 6 p.m. in the Fort Stotsenberg Parade Grounds is expected to gather all CDC employees and workers from Clark-based investors and locators.
Clark workers, together with local government units (LGU) employees and residents around the Freeport, will form a heart-shaped human chain to express strength and solidarity for families in the Southern Philippines, whose lives were severely affected by Sendong’s fury.
CDC President Felipe Antonio B. Remollo said employees of the state-owned corporation have already gathered donations both in cash and in kind immediately after Sendong devastated parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, leaving a death toll of more than 1,000 casualties.
Remollo added that the human chain project also aims to serve as a venue to gather and send more donations and other forms of assistance coming from Clark firms, public and private agencies, LGUs, and concerned citizens to Sendong-ravaged areas.
