Sweepstakes office to make public Grand Lotto revenues
December 05, 2010
PAMPANGA — A full accounting of the Grand Lotto revenues will be made available to the public as soon as sales reports are finalized, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) chairman Margarita Juico said on Friday.
Juico’s announcement came in light of the recent record breaking P741 million 6/55 Grand Lotto draw prize. A lone winner from Ologapo City won the prize money last week.
In her speech during a dinner fellowship of the Kapampangan Development Foundation (KDF), Juico said the PCSO owes it to the people to render a transparent accounting of the lotto revenues.
“We owe it to our clients, who through the years, have stood by us and demonstrated their unwavering support for our charity initiatives. We will not fail them,” Juico said.
Juico also said the sales of the lotto grand event reached record high during the 6/55 Grand Lotto draw.
“Our revenue from that single event alone would allow PCSO to pay much of its long-standing obligations to the various hospitals, clinics and other charitable institutions that were incurred during the years, ending June 30, 2010,” Juico said.
Juico also thanked the people who helped make the recent lotto draws successful, adding that the PCSO will continue to helping people in need.
The PCSO said it has helped turn as many as 1,551 Filipinos into millionaires since it started the lotto games in 1995.
As of November 24, 2010, it has given more than P26 billion in jackpot prizes on the 6/42, 6/45, 6/45 and 6/49 lotto draws. The first sole winner of the Grand Lotto (6/55), who won more than P134 million in the May 12, 2010, came from Batangas province. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
