Locals execs urged to invest on livelihood programs
CANDABA — Several residents here are urging local officials to invest more on livelihood programs this coming 2012 in order to empower communities.
They recalled that in the past, the Municipal Government focused on the town’s physical improvement, aside from road constructions and maintenance which resulted to more efficient means of transporting agricultural products.
“Maganda na ang nasimulan. Halos konti na lang at magkakarugtong na ang tatlong bahagi ng Candaba. Kaya sa darating na taon, mas mabuti kung maglalaan ng pondo ang lokal na pamahalaan para sa livelihood upang magkaroon ng pagkakakitaan ang ating mga kababayan,” Benita Delos Santos, a resident from Barangay Paralaya here, said.
She claimed that Candabeños are hard working and what they only need is full support from concerned officials and agencies of the government.
“We only need to help the people in the barangays discover their full potential by giving them resources, technology and accurate information,” Delos Santos added.
“Marami pwedi pagkakitaan dito sa Candaba na mayaman sa likas na yaman, sagana ang parang at hitik ang kailugan kaya kung magtutulungan ang taong bayan at ang munisipyo ay magkakaroon ng pagkakataon na umunlad ang bawat isa,” another resident here said.
As this developed, the residents suggested the creation of a special committee whose main purpose is to oversee the activity of various cooperatives representing the different sectors here.
This will also require budget allocation from the Municipal Government to finance the initial implementation of projects by the cooperatives, they explained.
“Kailangan lang natin ng seryosong programa para sa mga kooperatiba na walang bahid pulitika. Pwedi tumulong ang mga pulitiko pero hindi ikokompromiso ang interest ng bawat samahan,” Delos Santos pointed out.
