Lazatin vows to rescue Angeles from ‘bankruptcy’
ANGELES CITY–Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin will rebound Angeles City from bankruptcy should he win as mayor in the upcoming elections.
Irish Calaguas, Lazatin’s chief of staff, said that the solon’s platform is foremost to implement measures “so the City Government will rebound from its bankruptcy by assessing the expenditures against actual collections and prioritizing expenses.”
Based on official documents from the Office of the City Treasurer, Calaguas revealed that, as of September 3, 2012, the city has a negative cash flow of P11,945,575.92.
Calaguas said it is still early to present platform but because of the false claim of Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan’s camp they decided to reveal it this early.
Included in the platform are the eradication of graft and corruption in government and the promotion of transparency in all government transactions, especially in biddings and procurements, as the main focus.
The Lazatin camp also said that they will promote a business-friendly environment by not increasing business taxes and getting rid of the very high tax assessment implemented by the Pamintuan administration throughout their term.
The penalty for traffic violations, which stands at P1,000 under the Pamintuan administration, will be brought back to the former rate of P50 to P100, according to the Lazatin camp.
They also said that they will properly address the city’s solid waste management problems, unlike the Pamintuan administration which merely resorted to dumping solid wastes in Barangay Pampang, which originally is intended as transfer station only.
The Lazatin camp added that under their watch, medical and social services will be improved and accessible to all especially to the indigents.
The dialysis fee at the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (formerly Ospital Ning Angeles) Renal Care Center, which currently ranges from P2,000 to P3,000, will be brought down to P500.
The Birthing Station located at EPZA Resettlement, Barangay Pulung Cacutud, which charges P2,500 to its patients, will be made free, according to the Lazatin camp.
The Lazatin camp also said that they will remove the practice of prioritizing the members of certain political organization and voting populace, citing that discrimination has no room in public service.
Lazatin also vowed that while the Pamintuan administration collects P7,000 tuition fee at the City College of Angeles, under his administration, he vowed that the college will be given government subsidy and tuition fee will be made free for all indigents.
