Fastfood staff returns P20-T cash to teacher
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Staff of a fastfood chain in a shopping mall here recently returned a lost wallet, which had about P20, 000 and some documents, to its owner.
The wallet that contained money and documents was found by Mang Inasal Restaurant attendants at the SM City San Fernando Downtown (SMCSFD).
Scarlet Marie Pagdanganan, public relations officer of SMCSFD, said someone left her pouch at a table in the said restaurant on February 20.
Pagdanganan said one member of the food staff found the pouch and tried to return it but the customer already left the mall.
The food crew endorsed the lost wallet to his manager. They later found cash amounting to P20,000, medicines, and a BDO passbook inside the pouch.
Food chain restaurant managers Leah Reyes and Precious Grace Navarro sought the assistance of BDO at SMCSFD to track the owner’s contact details.
It turned out that the pouch owner was Marita Marques Fernandes, a secondary school teacher.
Fernandes was thankful when she got her pouch back.
“I would really want to commend these very honest employees of Mang Inasal Restaurant. I am not expecting that my wallet will be returned to me knowing that there’s no contact number in it and they really did such efforts on tracing me. I am very overwhelmed and glad by what they’ve done,” Fernandes said.
Both fastfood restaurant managers Reyes and Navarro expressed gratefulness for their staff’s recognition.
Meanwhile, SMCSFD Officer-in-Charge Bong Garcia said, “Because customer service is the backbone of who we are, we know that if we make our customers feel special and treat them with respect, they will reward us with years of loyalty.” ●Charlene A. Cayabyab
