EdPam orders early release of 13th month pay, cash gift
ANGELES CITY – The city government is set to release the remaining half of the city workers’ 13th month pay and P5,000 cash gift for the upcoming holiday season this week.
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan has given the go-signal and instructed his local finance team to expedite the processing of the payroll and start distributing the employees’ bonuses Friday.
“They have received half of the bonus and cash gift early this year so they will receive the remaining half starting this week,” Pamintuan said.
Pamintuan said the funds for the bonuses and cash gifts for city hall employees will come from the local budget.
The mayor said that economic pressures on the consumers usually mount towards Christmas Day and this will allow them to do their holiday shopping early, which is both convenient and economical.
“Besides being able to shop with more ease than during the Christmas rush, our city employees will be able to save on costs as they will avoid the usual price increases as the Yuletide Season approaches,” Pamintuan said.
According to the City Human Resources and Management Office (CHRMO), a total of 1,222 regular-permanent, casual and contractual employees will get their benefits this week.
Pamintuan also announced that he is considering granting additional holiday bonus this December to city workers as soon as the national government gives the go signal and approves the release of the Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI).
Last year, Pamintuan granted additional P12,000 Christmas bonus to each employee.
“I am exhorting and appealing to each and every one of you to please do what is expected from each and every one of us, to render what is due to the public. This is one way of demonstrating the local government employees’ dedication to government service,” Pamintuan said.
Under Budget Circular No. 2010-1, issued April 28, 2010 by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), government officials and employees are entitled to a year-end bonus equivalent to one month of pay and a cash gift of P5,000. The circular said the year-end bonus and cash gift shall be granted to government personnel who have rendered at least four months of service from January 1 to October 31.
Government personnel who have served for at least four months but have retired or were “separated without cause” before October 31 will get proportionate shares of the balance of the year-end bonus and cash gift.
Meanwhile, personnel who rendered less than four months of service as of October 31 will receive only pro-rated amounts of the cash gift, the circular said.
