Confab to focus on housing

MABALACAT — The Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines (PBMLP)’s 9th Island Conference on December 1 to December 3 at the Hotel Stotsenberg Convention Center at Clark Freeport will center on housing issues.
This was disclosed by 4th district Board Member Tarcicio “Tars” DC Halili, who told Sun.Star Pampanga that hundreds of delegates from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao are expected to attend the conference hosted by PBMLP-Central Visayas which he also chairs.
“Provincial legislators will focus on the theme ‘Towards Total Human Security: Strategic National-Local Partnership for Housing.’ PBMLP is committed to lead a stronger partnership between the government and private sectors to advance housing projects,” Halili said.
He added that the island conference, authorized under the Department of Interior and Local Government Memorandum Circular No. 2011-109, is expected to be graced by Vice President Jejomar Binay, Senators Jinggoy Estrada, Bongbong Marcos, Allan Peter Cayetano, Koko Pimentel, Laguna Governor ER Ejercito, Jackie Enrile and Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan of Angeles City and Mayor Marino Morales, among others.
In a separate statement, PBMLP vice president for Luzon Board Member Gary Jason Ejercito Estrada said the PBMLP is with high hopes that its members can be instruments towards giving every Filipino “not just a house but a home that they truly deserve.”
“Housing is an indication on how well one’s position in life has been. It is an accumulation of one’s achievements and accomplishments. Anyone without is considered out of class and outclassed although this estimation is never verbalized. Not a few times do we hear one mention of his or her dream house. It is almost a lifelong goal, just like building one’s own family,” Estrada said.
He noted that a house ownership drives everyone to work hard: “This is why most Filipinos work hard — day in and day out, year in and year out — to accumulate enough to build a house which one’s family could call their own, where they can build a home.”
Estrada added that since housing for Filipinos represents the four “S” which includes social status, stability and security. “This conference will not only help build linkages with various stakeholders but shall likewise strengthen the bond of friendship, commitment and unity of the members of the PBMLP.” (Jovi T.
