Clark workers to stage protest over bonus anew
CLARK FREEPORT — A group of workers at the Mimosa Leisure Estate said Tuesday they are set to stage another protest on Monday next week if Clark officials fail to release their 14th month pay and P-Noy bonus.
One of the workers’ spokespersons, who asked not to be named, said they are set to have a dialogue with officials of Clark Development Corporation (CDC) regarding the issue Wednesday.
“Pag wala pong nangyari sa usapan namin at hindi pa rin nila ibinigay [ang mga bonus] namin ay itutuloy po namin ang pangalawa naming silent protest sa Monday,” the spokesman said.
According to him, the Clark officials only gave one-fourth part of their 14th month pay which is equivalent to only one week of their respective salaries.
Mimosa workers have been receiving their yearly 14th month before Christmas, he added.
“Ngayon lang po kami hindi tinanggap yung buong 14th month namin,” he said.
The workers’ extra cash gift from the President (PNoy bonus) was also withheld, it was learned.
President Aquino earlier assured that government workers will receive their extra cash bonus that can amount to as much as P10,000.
Several Mimosa workers at 12 noon the other day held a silent protest in front of the Office of the President at the CDC.
The workers were wearing black shirts during the rally.
