CL has 651 new police personnel
Central Luzon has new 651 police recruits composed of 505 males and 146 females.
Chief Inspector Karen Clark, public information officer of Camp Olivas, said the new batch of police recruits had already taken their oath of allegiance last December 1, at Camp Olivas Parade ground.
Clark said that the new recruits who came from the different provinces of Central Luzon were the second batch of recruits who took their oath this year. For 2010, she said the Philippine National Police allocated 930 slots for recruitment in Region 3.
The phase 2 of the regular recruitment program had initial applicants numbering more or less 1,000 underwent the rigid physical and agility tests but trimmed down to 651.
According to Supt. Melchor Reyes, chief of the Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division, the recruits underwent rigorous screening which included physical agility test, neuro-psychological test, medical and dental examination, drug test and finally the final board interview which was composed of representatives from the women’s sector, the National Police Commission, the Dept. of Interior and Local Government, and the Regional Peace and Order Council representative.
After the oath taking ceremony, the recruits were handed over to Supt. Noel Flores, director of the PNP Regional Training School, said Clark.
After their training, the newly-recruited policemen will undergo the Field Training Program at the local police stations which will further train them to be fine policemen and policewomen.
Chief Supt. Allan Purisima, regional police director, has expressed optimism that these new policemen will answer to the call of the PNP leadership which is to “recruit the best and the brightest”, a major project of the PNP which is still in line with the PNP Integrated Transformation Program – the roadmap of the PNP to true and lasting reform.
