Biz group gives relief packs to flood victims
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PamCham) through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Search & Rescue Committee gave food packs and drinking water to flood victims here and other affected towns in the province.
PamCham president Jim Jimenez said the distributions were held at Barangay Dalayap and San Esteban in Macabebe town, and Barangays Malusac and Sinubli, Sasmuan town.
The campaign for donations in cash and in kind was initiated by the chamber at the onset of the torrential downpours last August 7 until August 8, with PamCham members and partner organizations responding to the calls for donation.
A total of 1,300 households/families were given food and water supplies by the group’s CSR and Search & Rescue committee headed by chairperson Leslie Bituin-Mendiola with members Aisa Laus-Manalili, Dior Laus, Antet Wijangco, Dennis Wijangco, Armand Mendiola, Darell Garbes, Jojo Javier, and Jerome Palomo.
Jimenez also thanked members and cooperators who donated in cash and in kind, which tremendously contributed to the successful relief operations.
PamCham also sent relief goods to flood victims in Barangay Sta. Teresita and Pandaras in the City of San Fernando. The capital city is among the heavily hit areas.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) here said some 17,953 families or 75,029 individuals were affected by the flooding.
The CDRRMO said that nine barangays here are still flooded as of press time while some families already went back to their homes as flooding in 13 barangays have subsided.
