Belmonte admits Corona impeachment easier to approve than RH bill

MANILA — Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. said Wednesday that the impeachment of Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Renato Corona was easier to approve in the House of Representatives than the reproductive health (RH) measure.
The divisive RH bill was first filed in the eighth Congress (1987-1992) and is now pending for second reading approval at the House of Representatives.
“I can see that we haven’t progressed as much as we could considering that we manage to elevate from the committee to the floor fairly early,” Belmonte told reporters.
“The fact of the matter is mas nahihirapan ako, to tell you frankly,” he added
Belmonte had earlier said that the House leadership will come up with rules limiting the time of questioning of the RH antagonists during plenary debates.
