Bataan Freeport export firm renews training pact
FREEPORT AREA OF BATAAN–The Mitsumi Philippines, one of the biggest and longest-running export companies in this Freeport, inked a supplemental agreement on the continuity of its Dual Training System (DTS) in partnership with the Regional Training Center Central Luzon Mariveles and the Provincial Training Center- Orion.
The company manufactures electronic parts.
Mitsumi’s Managing Director Yoshinori Saso signed the agreement with Engr. Jaime Castillo, center chief of RTCCL Mariveles, and Eufronio Torres, center administrator of PTC Orion recently at the company premises here.
The agreement provides for the improvement of training facilities of the two training centers to better prepare the DTS trainees before they start their in-plant training. Mitsumi’s DTS partnership with the two training centers started in 2002.
In DTS, the school and workplace share the responsibility of providing trainees with well-coordinated learning experiences and opportunities.
TESDA officials said the close cooperation between the school and the company ensures that the trainees are fully equipped with employable skills, work knowledge, and attitudes at the end of the training.
On-the-job training in the workplace complements the general and occupation-related theoretical instruction provided by the school.
Officials added that trainees under the DTS spend at least 40 percent of the training/learning time in school and 60 percent for practical training in the company.●–Butch Gunio
