OFW held for P1.6-M shabu
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga–The Pampanga police is gaining grounds on their campaign against illegal drugs with the arrest Sunday of a suspected drug courier and seizure of some P1.6 million worth of shabu during a raid in Barangay Sindalan, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
In his report to Police Regional Office 3 director Chief Supt. Edgardo T. Ladao, Pampanga police director Senior Supt. R’win Pagkalinawan identified the suspect as Jonas Pingul Lopez, 32, married, an OFW residing at SS1 Tagumpay St. in Barangay Sindalan.
The arrest of Lopez was an off-shoot of an intensified intelligence surveillance against the alleged involvement of the suspect in illegal drugs initiated by Pampanga Police Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Luzon.
On Sunday at around 2:30 p.m. joint operatives of Pampanga police, headed by Senior Inspector Joven de Guzman, and agents from PDEA, led by Reynaldo Poquiz, raided the suspect’s supposed hideout in Barangay Sindalan and seized from his possession some 327 grams of shabu with an estimated market value of P1.6 million.
Supt. Jhoanna Ponseca-Rosales, Pampanga police spokesperson, said the raiding team found four transparent plastic sachets containing shabu hidden inside two pairs of Islander slippers which were intended to be shipped to Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Rosales said the confiscated drugs were immediately brought to the PNP-Crime Laboratory Office 3 here for analysis.
She said the suspect is currently held at the Pampanga Police Office detention cell after charges of illegal drugs were filed against him in court.
