Angeles City massacre suspect involved in 2 more killings – police
MANILA, Philippines – A depressed lover is being eyed by police as the prime suspect in the gruesome massacre of an American war veteran, his wife and 3 household helpers inside their home in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Senior Superintendent Danilo Bautista, acting chief of the Angeles City Police Office, said that the suspect identified as Mark Dizon may also be involved in 2 more gruesome killings in the city.
Bautista said Dizon, a computer and electronics technician, became mentally disturbed after his girlfriend left him and went to the United States with another man.
He said the suspect also has a standing warrant of arrest for a carnapping case pending before the Angeles City Regional Trial Court.
The acting police chief said a witness has positively identified Dizon as the man who ran out of the residence of American war veteran Albert Mitchell on Thursday afternoon (July 22).
Mitchell, his wife, Janet, 53, and domestic helpers Isabel Fajardo, Marissa Prado, and Yulberto Vergara were later found dead.
The victims were found by crime scene investigators in different places inside the house located along Manuela Street, Hensonville Court, Barangay Malabanias.

Bautista said Dizon may also be the same gunman in the double murder of an Australian national and his girlfriend last July 9.
Geoffrey Allan Bennun, 60, who holds a Canadian passport, and his girlfriend Abegail Helina were found dead inside one of the villas at the Oasis Hotel in Barangay Balibago last July 9.
Police investigators said the female victim was “beaten to death” before she was shot dead.
Bautista said that the spent bullet shells found at the Oasis villa crime scene matched the 9mm pistol bullet shells recovered from Mitchell’s residence.
He revealed the same spent shells also matched those found at the rented apartment of British national James Bolton Porter and his live-in partner Melissa Madarang.
Porter and Madarang were found dead inside their apartment in Sta. Maria Subdivision, Barangay Balibago last July 20, just 2 days before the Hensonville Court massacre.
Police said the British national and his live-in partner could have been dead for several days before their bodies were discovered.
Manhunt
Bautista said undercover policemen have been dispatched in different areas in Central Luzon to hunt down Dizon.
He added that Dizon’s case has also been referred to other police offices around the country.
“We are launching a massive manhunt against Dizon,” the city police chief said.
He said that after a witness identified Dizon, they immediately went to his last known address in Barangay Salapungan, also in Angeles City.
Bautista said they recovered a blood-stained shirt from Dizon’s room. He added that the suspect’s father told them his son has been missing since Thursday.
