Commuters ask council to regulate fare increase

CANDABA — The riding public here urged Tuesday the Municipal Council to intervene on the inconsistent fare being collected by the Candaba-Sta. Ana tricycle drivers.
According to them, some of the drivers collect P12, while others get as much as P15 as transportation fee from Candaba to Sta. Ana terminal and vice versa.
“We do not exactly know how much we need to pay. The fare increase initiative must come fromthe local legislative body upon the petition of officials of the tricycle drivers’ association,” Allan Guevarra, resident-commuter said.
Guevarra said they understand the need to increase the fare considering that the cost of fuel is continuously increasing. However, he pointed out that the drivers cannot do it on their own.
“The public wasn’t informed of the fare increase. Ang hindi pa maganda, iba-iba ang halaga ng pamasahe depende sa driver,” another commuter here claimed.
With this, a source from the Municipal Council disclosed that there is no petition filed to support the collection of additional P3 for each passenger.
It was learned that the original fare is only P12 for each passenger, with four on board, for a single travel.
No discount is being given to senior citizens, students and persons with disabilities.
