Guv urged Kapampangans to pray for Arroyo’s recovery

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Governor Lilia Pineda reiterated Monday her call for Kapampangans to pray for the fast recovery of former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (GMA).
“Hinihiling ko na patuloy nating ipagdasal ang agarang paggaling ng ating dating Pangulong GMA ng sa ganoon ay maharap niya ang mga akusasyong ibinibintang sa kanya at maipagtanggol niya ang kanyang sarili (Let’s pray for the former President’s recovery so she can face all allegations against her),” Pineda said.
Arroyo has been confined at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig for several days now and earlier intended, but failed, to seek medical treatment abroad.
She has been charged for electoral sabotage by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Commission on Elections joint committee last Friday.
Pineda, who is a known ally of the former President, said she and fellow officials of the Provincial Government are hopeful that Arroyo will be accorded due process of law.
“Sana magkaroon siya ng sapat na lakas ng katawan upang maidepensa niya ang kanyang sarili at sapat na tatag ng kalooban upang malampasan ang pagsubok na ito,” the governor said.
The Justice department did not allow the former President to seek medical treatment abroad early last week in spite of the temporary restraining order issued by the Supreme Court stopping the department from implementing its travel ban against Arroyo.
Earlier, Pampanga Mayors League president and Candaba Mayor Jerry Pelayo also called on fellow Kapampangans to pray for the recovery of Arroyo.
Together with Pineda, Pampanga mayors visited Arroyo at the hospital last week to express their support and wishes for her well-being.
